Daughters of the Republic of Texas Alamo Heroes Medals
Victory at San Jacinto!
Texas independence was won on April 21, 1836 at the Battle of San Jacinto. The battle lasted only 18 minutes but forever changed the course of Texas and American history. General Sam Houston led the Texian Militia, all shouting "Remember the Alamo" "Remember Goliad" as they stormed the battlefield. Today, 188 years later, the San Jacinto monument is revered as hallowed ground.
Viva Texas! Viva Fiesta!
Sporting a Lone Star ribbon, the San Jacinto Victory medal showcases the monument. The Twin Sisters cannons were a gift of support from the citizens of Ohio. The Alamo Chapel represents the now famous battle cry. The medal rests on a sword reminding us of General Sam Houston's sword, worn in the battle of San Jacinto.
Alamo Heroes Chapter, Daughters of The Republic of Texas, was established in 1993 in San Antonio, Texas.
